Latest News From All Dogs Matter
Spring has well and truly sprung for our friends at All Dogs Matter. Here are just a few of the highlights and Monkey is looking for his forever home.
Saving dogs from death in the meat trade in South Korea
We have been working with Humane Society International again to take in dogs that had been rescued from the meat trade in South Korea. These poor dogs were so scared and nervous, having spent their previous years cramped in small cages, just waiting for death. The majority went to the USA/Europe for rehoming and 5 came to us, all of whom have been successfully rehomed, including Bindi, pictured with her owner Pip Tomson.
Supporting Dogs on the Street
We are now really proud to support Dogs on the Street London as part of our new #allstreetdogsmatter campaign working with homeless people and their dogs. We attended their Doggy Station in April to bring our donations and see the wonderful work they do. Those on the streets can bring their dogs in for a vet-check, a bath and pick up anything they might need for their dog’s wellbeing. Unfortunately, as most of you will have noticed, there are growing numbers of homeless people and their dogs finding themselves on the street.
The Great Hampstead Bark Off
Our next event will be the Great Hampstead Bark Off on Hampstead Heath on 14th May. Has your pooch got what it takes to be Top Dog in our Dog Show and impress our panel of celebrity Judges? Entrants will be competing for the coveted title of Mr/Miss Heath as well as Cutest Pup, Golden Oldies and Best Rescue. Everyone who registers will get a goodie bag on the day. Can you give Monkey his forever home?
Sadly we have noticed there has already been an increase in abandonment in the lead up to Easter. We have rehomed 112 dogs so far this year and in March we rehomed 43 alone!
Our featured dog this month is Monkey, a beautiful Staffie Cross who has come to us after he was abandoned. We think that he is approximately 6 months old. Monkey is very much a puppy and loves to play! He's looking for a new owner who has had dogs before and can give some training. He has already learnt to sit and wait, now his foster carers are working on lie down and stay! Monkey is happy to meet new people and seems to have a permanently waggy tail! He is learning to walk nicely on his lead and has been good with dogs when meeting them and has even been on a Tube and Bus!
