I am the groomer at the parlour and the state of this poor dog was pure laziness on the owners behalf If we assess your dog's coat to be found matted, in this case extremely matted to skin then it may need to be clipped short. Under the Animal Welfare Act (2006), it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal; this includes de-matting which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog.

This poor dog was matted underneath to the skin but this owner will not accept this and the groomer who informed the owner that i was wrong to do this is clearly not up to date with the animal welfare act

I have a bearded collie, a long haired dog. I've been using la
Pooch for around 3-4 years every single time with the
instructions to keep my dog long haired and just to have a tidy
up. never had an issue. Admittedly beardies are the type to get
matted easily, however I do keep on top of this weekly.
Especially just before he goes to get groomed just incase (like
has happened in this instance) the groomer is too lazy to cut
and brush the mats out and shaves them completely. To
confirm this, in the last week my dog has been around
someone who used to be a professional groomer and see's
there is no reason for her to have shaved him down to 1 inch
long fur like has happened. My dog looks a mess now, nothing
that compares to the bearded collie look he once had. Do not
use this groomer unless you want your dog to look northing
like it's former self

Steph is fantastic. My puppy Flo had broken her leg and steph accommodated for her. She has been again yesterday and yet again an amazing job. Would highly recommend her to any dog owner.

Steph grooms both my dogs, a short hair jackapoo and a wavy coated jackapoo. Steph has proved excellent with both dogs from puppy grooms to adult grooms and bath & brush treatments. The dogs come home happy and smelling gorgeous. Steph is always on hand with a wealth of information and handy tips. Would highly recommend!

I ve been taking my dog tp La Pooch since it opened , Steph is brilliant with my dog , who can be somewhat tetchy when having her face trimmed , nothing fazes this groomer - even a snappy Shih Tzu. The atmosphere is nice and calm when you arrive and your dog will be taken care of the whole time he/she there and will smell GORGEOUS when you collect them , I would definitely recommend La Pooch and would not go anywhere else.

I was a bit nervous taking my puppy for his first groom, but there was no need to worry at all. Stephanie not only put me at ease, but has an amazing way with dogs, so my puppy loved her, and thoroughly enjoyed his experience at La Pooch. I highly recommend La Pooch. I will be booking Snoopy in again very soon!!
