“Sand, Sea and Serenity”
Reviewed 11th September 2023
Many destinations claim to be "dog friendly" when in fact what they mean is "dog tolerant" there is a big difference between the two claims. I had been searching for a long time for the perfect holiday retreat for me and my particular dog. Like us, dogs are all different, with their own individual needs, quirks and peculiarities. Thus it is essential for any property to be specific about such vital information as height and type of fencing, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, as well as extolling what other highlights they offer. Sand Drift fitted my requirements exactly ensuring that both I and my dog could relax both in and out of the accommodation. Just 2 minutes to the gorgeous sandy beach which even on BH Monday was sparsely populated by both humans and canines. The chalet was fully equipped and wanted for nothing as well as being stocked with some essentials plus superb treats for dog and owner alike. I really could not fault it, so much so that on my return I immediately booked a return visit next year.

“Another lovely week at The Walnut”
Reviewed 3rd June 2023
Another lovely week at The Walnut.

We stayed at The Walnut last year and had such a lovely week, we decided to book again. We knew exactly what to expect, its cleaned to a high standard and is so comfortable throughout, so ticks all the boxes for a really relaxing stay. The barn is beautiful inside and out.
Its the little touches that Stella and Paul have made that make all the difference. The lovely welcome basket full of of local goodies, the fudge was so good and dog biscuits, we're much appreciated too! The lovely flowers on arrival. The hot tub is also a bonus and there are lovely robes too, everything is well thought off.  The paddock is excellent for zoomies, our dog absolutely loved it. Holiday tags are also provided for the dog, plenty of bowls, towels and dog toys. Also beds for the dog & a dog first aid kit.
There are lots of games and puzzles for everyone if the weather isn't so good.
We ate out at The Ship Inn, we also got a Chiense takeaway from Oriental Garden, definitely the best Chinese. We also got a pizza from Monzu (pizza van) at The Broads, would recommend.
We went to Bacton woods a few times.
We had some lovely walks from the door too.
We saw the barn owl this time. Sitting in the hot tub taking in all the gorgeous views, you won't hear anything other than the birds singing, it's so peaceful, so makes for the perfect getaway. Every window in The Walnut has lovely views out across the fields.
We have had such a lovely time again, thank you Paul & Stella for being brilliant hosts yet again. Paul, wishing you well with your recovery. Thanks for sharing your beautiful barn.  Loki & Family.

“Lovely cosy cottage with a big welcome”
Reviewed 9th May 2023
We stayed at Badger’s Retreat in May 2023, with our two Boston Terriers. The cottage is lovely and well equipped, and the welcome pack was amazing. Terri and Richard were extremely welcoming and shared their local knowledge. The location is great, within easy reach of lots of coastal and broads tourist spots as well as some lesser known lovely areas. Will definitely be booking again.

Reviewed 24th March 2023
The best place to celebrate a big birthday with friends with both 2 & 4 legs.
This big beautiful house has some lovely old features including old fireplaces, the house was always warm & cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with 2 fridges & 2 freezers & a big table for us all to sit around & chat. The beds were super comfy.
The beach is literally just up the ramp & has some great coastal path walks. We had a lovely Sunday lunch at Reef’s Bar 2 choices of meat & 8 different vegetables, great service, good food & most importantly dog friendly. Just across the road is another dog friendly cafe with a 2p slot machines to keep the kids entertained.
Would we stay here again…. YES

“Brig Cottage, Scratby ”
Reviewed 24th February 2023
A delightful cottage, warm and cosy. It had everything we needed, the goodies left for our arrival were much appreciated. It was well equipped. And I loved the quirky features; every door different upstairs, the original features like the fireplace and the beam in the ceiling. It was well maintained and decorated. It would have been nice to have a little information on the history of the cottage.

The cottage garden was also well maintained, the decking was clean and it was fantastic to know that the dogs were safe and could explore freely.

As we were just out of 'season' the majority of places in the village were closed. But that did not detract from our break. We had a relaxing time and all four dogs enjoyed the freedom of an empty beach. Normally only Doris Dood is allowed the freedom, the little ones not being trusted to explore too far.

Angelo's on California Road was welcoming, the staff were friendly, the dogs were allowed inside and given complimentary sausages. Fantastic.

The organisation and documentation provided by East Ruston Holiday Cottages was great. The emails and digital welcome pack told us everything we needed to know. One of the best agencies we have booked with.

Had THE most amazing week in Wag-tail Cottage for Christmas. Weather was really kind, my 3 boys ( 2 x labs and a Newfy) absolutely loved all the walks on the beach and in the dunes and then loved just collapsing into a deep sleep and doggy snores.
The cottage was just perfect for us, 3 bedrooms, nice sized garden, great sized kitchen for cooking, lovely cozy lounge area to sit and chill and chat in.
This is the most perfect cottage for anyone looking for a Norfolk break.

“Ruby Gem, Truly A Gem”
Reviewed 8th November 2022
We've just returned from a weekend break in Winterton. Ruby Gem is a lovely cottage. The garden was well fenced and secure enough for my two greyhounds. There was a lovely welcome pack in the cottage including home made dog treats. They have really thought of everything. There are some good walks locally in Winterton. It rained for most of the Sunday but my two were extremely content to lay in front of the log burner until the rain cleared up! I would certainly book through this company again and thoroughly recommend it for a dog friendly break.

We had the most wonderful week at Hidden Gem. The location is amazing, straight onto the dunes and then the beach. A lovely village with a small shop and a lovely cafe. “Lovely Week at Natulius ”
Reviewed 27th August 2022
We had a lovely week at Natulius.
This is our second holiday to Norfolk this year, we stayed at another ERC property in May and decided to book again and wanted somewhere close to the beach.
We arrived after a long drive to a welcome pack for us and biscuits for the dog, which was appreciated. You enter through the portch, it is handy plenty of dog bowels, and towels for the dogs which is helpful and saves room in the car.
Nautilus is in a great location, a three minute walk to the beach, a lovely, quiet sandy beach and you can hear the sea at night!
Inside Nautilus is modern, the bathroom is a good size and lots of space for toiletries and the shower is good too. Ironing board and iron, washing machine which is always handy. The garden isn't huge but it is nicely laid out and having the beach so close it isn't an issue as we made so much use of having the beach on the doorstep. We ate at The Star (our favourite) meals are really brilliant, it's dog friendly and staff are lovely, you can walk from Nautilus it took us 35 minutes. We also ate at The Ship Inn too. We got a takeaway from Oriental Garden in Bacton (collection & cash only) but great food. We also got a lovely pizza from Monzu (pizza van) they pitch up at Wroxham- definitely recommend the wood fire pizza's they were brilliant. We also went to Smallsticks a 15 minute walk from Nautilus, a great place to visit for cake or food. We spent most of our time at the beach but we also went to Bacton Woods too, great walk & many paths to take so if you need to avoid other dogs you can. Tescos is also close by for essentials. We had a lovely stay, the location is peaceful and having the beach on the doorstep was definitely a plus for us. Also nice to have an 11am check out too, not so much rushing around.
Thank you for a great stay.

“Rose Cottage - Walcott July 2022”

If you want to wake up to the sound of the sea this is the place to be. The cottage is in a perfect location for dogs who love a beach it’s literally across the road, there is a tiny bit of beach to the right that isn’t dog friendly BUT turn left & you have miles of dog friendly beach.
Anne the owner is lovely & she was in touch before we arrived & arranged lovely birthday gifts go my friend. The outside area is secure with a nice big table & an outside tap to wash dog paws & human Sandy feet. If you want to eat breakfast out we can recommend the cafe down the road & it’s dog friendly, they also serve really good ice cream & the little shop is also well stocked. Another great property added to the ERC portfolio. Just one word of warning mind your head when going up & down the stairs I bumped my head daily ????

Spent the week of June 3rd 2022 thru June 10th 2022 at one of the East Ruston Cottages - The Crib. Outstanding location, spotless cottage, completely dog-friendly with a fab large back garden -- perfect for my to Giant South African Mastiffs. Lots of room indoors, including a fab kitchen that had everything needed to cook a meal -- including a proper Sunday Roast. This was our 4th stay at The Crib, and 5th stay at one of the East Ruston Cottages. Sue and her team are outstanding. Wouldn't stay with anyone else when looking to book a holiday in Norfolk! “The Walnut...Absolute Bliss! ”
Reviewed 4th June 2022
We had an amazing stay at The Walnut.
I had high expectations for The Walnut and I can honestly say, it didn’t disappoint.
The barn is stunning, inside and out and very well looked after.

Stella & Paul met us on arrival so we knew where they were if we needed them.  They are a lovely couple, and we enjoyed meeting Mister and Biff too. We had a long journey and asked if we could use the paddock when we arrived as we have a young lab, and this definitely helped burn of some energy- the earlier arrival helped us and our dog settle - so thank you very much for allowing us.

The front porch is brilliant for bags and storing shoes,  beach bags etc, there is plenty room. The outside area is great, enclosed the courtyard with the hot tub and seating area and all fully secure, so you can totally relax knowing your dog is safe. Open the gate and you have access to the paddock outside. The paddock is brilliant, so much space for zoomies and great after a long drive.  Our lab loved it, it was definitely a bonus for us to use.
Our stay was totally private and so peaceful, the only thing you will hear are the birds.
Beautiful views outside each window to be enjoyed and you are not overlooked whatsoever. Outside is so pretty at night too, the lights in the paddock on the tree and outside are lovely and makes it feel so homely.

The hot tub was a real bonus too, we enjoyed relaxing with the beautiful views across the fields. The robes for the tubs were great, nice to have these provided for the stay.

The Walnut is beautiful, its absolutely immaculate inside and so much care has gone into everything inside to make the stay comfortable. There were four of us and our dog and it wasn't cramped at all, it really makes for a comfortable stay.
Plenty of room in the bedrooms and hanging space, drawers etc, and both bathrooms have good showers too.

Stella & Paul & ERC really do get dog holidays, just because you have a dog and want dog friendly accommodation, it doesn't mean you should have to compromise on where you stay or the type of accommodation offered, The Walnut is dog friendly without doubt, but it is beautiful and such care has gone into the detail in the barn and its very clean throughout.
The welcome hamper was fab, plenty of treats for the humans & dog! The flowers, such a lovely and personal touch and nice to sample some local goodies - thank you, they were very much appreciated.

Holiday tags for collars were also provided. Also a dog first aid kit in the property too. Plenty of dog towels, toys, bowls and throws .

Plenty of games and puzzles, cards etc,  to work your way through, when the weather isn't great.  Tesco is a short drive too, which is good. The location is great.

We  mostly ate out but had a takeaway from Oriental Garden in Bacton, it was really nice.
We also ate at The Star in Lessingham (very dog friendly) and the food was lovely, would definitely recommend, Its a twenty minute walk from The Walnut too!
We also ate in The Swan Inn, in Stalham, nice food and dog friendly.

The beaches are great, so many to choose from and all lovely sandy beaches, plenty of space and dogs!  You can get to the beach in the car under ten minutes or walk, it took us an hour but was a nice walk.
We had such a lovely time, and it was so relaxing. The Walnut is a great base, close to the beaches and pubs and great for our lab who can be a bit reactive to noise, you literally cannot hear a thing outside whatsoever.
We have loved every bit of our stay, if it was available this summer we would have booked to stay again!  We didn't want to leave and neither did the dog.
We have booked for next year and so glad we have that to look forward too.
We would highly recommend The Walnut, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Stella & Paul, for sharing your beautiful barn and being so accommodating during our stay. We cannot wait to come back next year.
Love Loki & Family.

“Cornerways A Unique Property”
Reviewed 21st May 2022
Home from a week at Cornerways. A unique property. I think I noticed something every day, that I hadn't noticed the day before. I loved the beach painting on the wall and the boat above the bathroom door.

Dogs (three Greyhounds) settled in quickly and enjoyed dashing round the cabin from front to back. The outside is very secure, once you have bolted the tall gate. They really loved the big sofa.

We met Lee Ann (the owner), who is lovely.

The coastal path walk was a hit with dogs and us humans. You could get on the walk at Cart Gap, parking in the car park, or walking down. Near there was Small Stix Cafe and their cakes are to die for. We decided to take them back to Cornerways to enjoy them.

On previous ERC holidays we have visited Veras and this time enjoyed using the voucher for a lunch out. Treated ourselves to raspberries and cream to have for tea that day. Went to Sea Palling and tried the hot donuts, which were scrummy.

We had a great holiday with our two dogs in the Wag-tail Cottage in Ingham Corner (one of the East Ruston Cottages). The cottage is very comfortable with everything one might need (the wood burner, dishwasher, dog beds, crates…). The garden is really nice and secure, and there are plenty of walks straight from the cottage to explore the countryside if one doesn't want to drive to the beach (which is very close). The area is very quiet and peaceful. Very much recommend the place and would love to return one day.

“A wonderful holiday from East Ruston Cottages”
Reviewed 13th October 2021
We had a great four night stay at Wag Tail Cottage, Ingham, found on the East Ruston Cottages website.
The cottage is about 2 miles away from the nearest beach and on a minute away from a footpath into the surrounding countryside.
Communication was excellent, with an App that gives all the information that you could possibly want before you arrive. A goody basket, including treats for our dog, awaited us on arrival. The cottage was spotlessly clean, cosy yet spacious and very well appointed with absolutely everything you could possibly want. The garden was totally secure and there is off road parking for two vehicles.
We explored the beaches and the broads, found recommended cafes and pubs and had a thoroughly good time.

Reviewed 28th August 2021
I really don't know where to start; this house is amazing! There were 8 adults and 5 dogs in our party and there was plenty of room for us all. The kitchen has everything you need: more than enough plates, cutlery, glasses etc; plenty of pans and utensils and even a Tassimo coffee machine. The utility room was a great place to store all our doggy equipment and the snug was lovely to sit and read in. All the beds were comfortable and each room included hairdryers. There are lots of DVDs, books and games to keep you occupied and also lots of spare dog leads, dishes and beds (there is even a separate bin in the shed for the dog poo!) Our dogs had a ball! They loved the garden and, with a footpath straight over the road that led directly to the beach, it was ideal for our energetic spaniels. We will miss our walks to Sea Palling and Happisburgh! Overall, a fantastic time was had by all, infact the dogs' tails didn't stop wagging all week!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Brian's Cottage. The welcome from Liz and Tim is exceptional - they are the perfect hosts. It was a lovely evening with very tasty food - we can recommend booking a meal prepared by Liz whilst on holiday!! Also the extensive welcome pack again has gems made by Liz including cake, brownies, ciabatta, jam and marmalade, all of which are delicious. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, both for in the cottage and days out if you've forgotten anything eg leads, cooler bag, ice blocks etc etc. There is a very comfortable king-size bed - perfect for a good night's sleep. It's also in a great location - walks from the door and a short drive to the beach and many other attractions.
