“The best!”
Reviewed 12th May 2016
I've tried quite a few different high meat content dry dog food, or should I say my Cockapoo Poppy has tried them.
Some of which she went off pretty quickly and, some made her stools loose. She has been on Akela for approx 18 months now and still looks forward to dinner time. The ingredients and price are excellent.

I can't fault this food at all. I think I've bought it about five times now and will keep buying it. The only issues I've had is with delivery a couple of times and I hope they take that on board and iron out problems - maybe a more reliable courier!

“Great but disapointed with customer services!”
Reviewed 9th May 2016
My two dogs love this food and are doing really well on it. I recently ordered the big bag of food. When I opened the white sack that surrounds the bag of food I noticed that the bag had split and emptied out into the sack. I had to throw some of it away. I emailed customer services twice only to be ignored!!!!! How rude.

Great quality food, customer service could be improved. Had reason to contact them twice, both times they were "prickly" at best. Sufficiently so to make me consider taking custom elsewhere, but the dogs love the food and it has helped with a variety of health issues encountered on their previous diet.

“Happy hounds”
Reviewed 3rd May 2016
I tried Akela when we desperately needed to encourage a very underweight and fussy lurcher pup to eat. She loved the food immediately - no standing over the bowl halfheartedly picking through the contents, she devoured it. Cleaning up also proved to be much easier. Way less poo and much more 'compact'. I was so pleased with how the puppy was doing I've since switched my two older dogs to Akela too. Our 8year old miniature schnauzer's coat is absolutely gleaming and the old man of the house, a 15+ year old spaniel/jrt cross is actually enthusiastic about eating again. We're delighted. I can't recommend Akela highly enough.

“Better than more expensive brands!”
Reviewed 26th April 2016
I changed my German Shepherds (6 months old - 30+kg and 4 months old rescue 18kg) to Akela from Orijen as it was just too expensive to feed them both on it. They loved it!! They wolfed it down! Whereas they just picked at Orijen! Definitely recommend it! High quality 80:20 food at affordable prices! 1 10kg bag lasts my 2 German Shepherds over 2 weeks!

“Akela whole prey food”
Reviewed 24th April 2016
Don't often review foods which is silly because I read a lot of reviews before trying food for my dogs!
I have 5 dogs, 3 mastiffs a collie cross and Italian greyhound cross. I was previously put off dry food as one of my mastiffs suffered and thankfully survived bloat. So many popular high end foods are packed with grains thus making kibble swell considerably. I went on to solely wet food for a while, whilst the dogs enjoyed it to begin with my collie cross was starting to leave it as he had to eat a big volume to get his requirement plus what came out the other end was often sloppy.. First saw Akela at the All About Dog Show at the Norfolk show ground last year and bought home samples. Again my collie cross who is extremely fussy would never eat any kibble dry without wet food mixed in......but Akela he loved!! Since then they have been eating Akela and they all look wonderful on it and poos small and firm! I love that it has very high quality ingredients a high meat content and no grains. It smells lovely and the dogs enjoy their dinner every time. The delivery is quick and efficient and always very helpful on the phone. My dogs love the original meat and fish feast have yet to try the new duck. The price is a sensible amount for the highest quality food and I'm very please.
Kind regards

“Puppy loves it”
Reviewed 24th April 2016
Following some research 'Akela' products continually came out tops on all fronts, something that appealed to me was the absence of grains. My new whippet puppy had been feeding on a proprietary dried food, the transition to Akela Original is proving very easy, by day seven the only food left in the dish is the previous feed, with hardly any Akela remaining. All his motions appear normal, if slightly firm and quite dark. He seems to be thriving on it.

“Great for puppies and older dogs”
Reviewed 24th April 2016
Had looked everywhere for good quality kibble I could feed to both my 12 week old puppy and my 18month old. They both loved it, so good I don't have to worry about each one stealing the others dinner. Had ordered a couple of the cans of wet food for them to sample, they loved it mixed with the dry. Unusual treats, kangaroo/ rabbit which are great as older dog has allergies to many common ingredients. Received delivery only a couple of days after order. Great service

I decided to buy this food from reading previous reviews and I am glad to say that the reviews have not been proved wrong. My two Labradors love the food., and they had no problems when switching from their old food to Akela. The next day delivery service is excellent and great for me as I do shift work. And I love the fact that it is a British company. I will keep using this food until my boys get tired of it, and as they are labs, I'm sure that will not be any time soon.

“Superb dog food”
Reviewed 14th April 2016
We have a young 10 month old working cocker spaniel which we have had from 12 weeks old. We fed her on a major supposedly high end brand puppy breed specific food. We thought we were feeding the very best. She started to leave food and be disinterested in it. She started getting dandruff and scratching. I researched dog food and the contents. I realised that I have been feeding my dog mainly chemicals and grain based carbs. Very disappointing. I saw the outstanding reviews for this Arkela food and ordered 3 tester bags in each flavour. Today i blended 25% original of this with her regular food. She actually picked the Akela food out and left the rest. I am no expert in dog nutrition but do know about human. Feeding protein and carbs through quality meat and vegetale matter is no different to what humans should eat - albeit slightly different balance! My food arrived next day. I have now ordered 3 smaller bags and if all goes well will continue with large ones. Look at what you re feeding your dog - at the price of Arkela this is very accessible to all. Very Very impressed so far. Good work Arkela.

My 11 month border collie loves the wet food and sits patiently while I prepare her meals. I've also given her quite a few Akela treats, and again these have all gone down well. I have also purchased the fish feast dry food but not yet started to add this to her diet, but I'm pretty sure this will go down well too :)

“Please read before purchase!!”
Reviewed 11th April 2016
After trying every single supermarket brand dry food I was still not impressed with anything and neither was my one year old working cocker spaniel, so I looked online at various websites and after ruling out raw food(no thanks!) I found the reviews about akela, which after reading them I was very sceptical as all the reviews were excellent across several websites and I though no dog food could be that good surely!?!?

After purchasing a small bag from my local stockist to try it the dog loved it and eat the whole bowl full straight away something she has never done with other dry foods, I decided to order direct from akela and bought 4 bags, enough to last several months as I am very impressed with it , the ingredients are top quality, what comes out the other end is amazing! My dog has taken very well to the original flavour and her coat and teeth are vastly improved.

In a nutshell this is the best food on the market and I have tried everything from tesco own to Royal canin and the rest of the over priced inferior quality foods out there.

I have a 3 yr old Black Lab who suffers with skin allergies, we have tried several foods and at present I am trying Akela Duck, I love the fact it's duck and only duck as some dry kibbles have different meat and fats in them.I am trying to see if keeping it simple helps her.Normally it's 8 to 12 weeks to see any changes, but she's eating it fine would love to see more single protein diets too, really hoping Akela is the answer.

“Good food for Dogs”
Reviewed 9th April 2016
Our fussy Tebetan Terrier has had a variety of different premium dog foods which initially kept her interest but after the first bag her appetite wavered. We found positive feedback on a review site about Akela and we thought we would give it a go. Our dog's response was immediate and up until the last bag she has always cleaned up straight away. This is the first time there has been any reticence since commencing use about eighteen months ago so we are hoping this is a one off and not a recipe change.
Ordering on the web-site has always been easy and delivery has been prompt.
We are, on the whole, very pleased with this product and would recommend it.

“Calmer happier dogs”
Reviewed 7th April 2016
My niece who is a dog trainer in the Isle of Man recommended Akela for our two Labradors who were under threat of being re homed due to shredding beds and not being clean at night.
Fantastic result! We bought some Akela fish at Crufts and they have a 99% record at night now and the new bed I bought them is still intact! They love it and are much calmer. I have since ordered more from Akela. Delivery was prompt and on time. Although more expensive than the food we used before they need less of it and value wise overall is great.

“No brainer really!”
Reviewed 3rd April 2016
I have 3 dogs of various sizes and ages and I wanted to give them the best food at a reasonable cost. I did extensive research as I have lost a dog to bloat in the past and obviously wanted to avoid this happening again. I discovered that the grain in a lot of kibbles could have contributed to the condition so I searched for a more healthy option and came across this excellent food.

Since changing to Akela my dogs have been happier, healthier and their coats are softer and shinier than ever before, my Ridgeback even developed a richer deeper colour to her coat and all three seem to moult less.

Whole prey offer excellent customer service and delivery is quick, packaging is superb with a handy zip lock feature on the large bags to keep the kibble fresh. I buy in bulk to take advantage of the free delivery as I know it won't ever go to waste.

I am so pleased that there is now a cat food available and I will definitely be switching all 4 cats over to this too. I regularly recommend this food to others and those that have switched have all said it's the best thing they've done.

For those that might be worried about the cost, it actually works out cheaper in the long run as you don't need to feed as much due to the high quality, natural ingredients. Also your dogs will be healthier so less trips to the vets and no dreaded skin problems which can develop when feeding other cheaper, grain based kibble.

All their ingredients are sourced locally (where possible) too which also appealed to me.
