“Happy Dog.”
Reviewed 8th December 2015
My German Shepherd is 11 years old so she knows the difference between good food she love and those she is not happy to eat. Fortunately she love this food and especially now that there is a larger kibble. Good ingredients and smell not bad.

“Akela 80/20 Original”
Reviewed 5th December 2015
I have every confidence in the quality of this food after reading ingredients used. My dog appeared to enjoy a change to this but after about a month failed to clear his bowl each time and we had to make a change. He is probably just a faddy eater and will soon become tired of the current dry food which is cold pressed. I was sorry this had to be after the high score Akela attained. Perhaps we'll try again with, hopefully, better results in the near future.

It could be that your dog has an allergy to chicken. I would recommend our single source protein Salmon or Duck options.

“Recommended to all my clients”
Reviewed 5th December 2015
I sent off for a small sample of Akela when I first heard about it and I used it was treats in my training class and with my own dogs. After finding that even the fussiest of eaters seemed to love it, I ordered a bag for my dogs - one of which has a skin condition. Now that there is a fish option, that is their favourite.
I have found that it is an excellent food for anyone who wants to feed kibble or who is unable to feed raw and I recommend it to my dog training clients as standard. I believe that everyone who has tried their dog on Akela has found it beneficial as well as very good value for money.
Thank you Akela :)

“Best Dry Kibble I Have Ever Tried”
Reviewed 3rd December 2015
I have been involved with dogs all my life 60+ years and have fed a variety of dog foods from porridge, milk & mixer way back in the 50's , raw mince and latterly dry kibble. Have used many well advertised dry foods and after doing extensive research as to what goes into some of the dog foods on the market it really opened my eyes.
I have been feeding Akela Small Paws for 9 months to my Miniature Schnauzers and the difference in their health and general wellbeing is staggering. Also a lot less poo! They go crazy at meal times and it is devoured in seconds. Have used the Origional and the Fish variety both equally enjoyed and looking forward to trying the new Duck variety.
I now feel confident I am giving my dogs the very best nutrition and quality ingredients and the fact you can feed from 4 weeks old to OAP's is a bonus, no extra bags for puppies, Junior or seniors. Comes in super zip bag to keep it fresh brilliant! I dont bother with" treats" just use Akela. Simples!

“Nom nom nom”
Reviewed 2nd December 2015
That is all we hear at mealtimes!

Our 4 month old English Pointer was swapped to Small Paws Fish Feast when we brought him home at 9 weeks and he loves it, we bought a little bag as a tester and were quickly back for more. We supplement it with some sardines, rice and other bits at different times of the day to keep him guessing but he is a big fan and that is about the best review we can give!

Also worth saying his coat looks great and he is as bouncy and waggy tailed as we could have hoped for - no doubt a result of the great quality food.

Don't forget that while the bags might look a bit pricey, we found you need a lot less than some of the cheaper stuff per bowl when we looked at the feeding recommendations and as I say, a little rice top up goes down a storm in our house!

“Akela whole prey”
Reviewed 2nd December 2015
My 2 year old cocker poo has had problems with digestion, mainly runny stools. I looked into problems & came across allaboutdogfood . Tried akela as I was impressed with 5 rating, and the ingredients sounded perfect! I have tried raw diet but she just won't eat it. I'm now on my 3 rd big bag of akela and she is happy , fit & healthy, stool problem resolved!! I have got a couple of my friends dogs on akela now & they won't look back either. Also, as a foot note, she really enjoys it! I have the new duck flavour coming soon, I assume it will be just as good!

“Natural Quality Ingredients 5*”
Reviewed 1st December 2015
Checked the All About Dog Food Website and saw the Akela Whole Prey had a 5* rating. The food is natural quality ingredients and produced in the UK. I changed to this brand for my two Dobermans. They are both happy with the food and one of them is a very fussy eater. They both are full of energy, have lovely shiny coats, bright eyes and their stools are firm. They originally had the Whole Prey and I have now also tried them with the Fish Feast which they like just as much. I also use it as treats for training. I always order three bags at a time, the delivery is quick and free. It is a good price for the quality of the ingredients.

“Akela - Fantastic food for dogs! ”
Reviewed 1st December 2015
My 2 year old Flat Coated Retriever is grain intolerant. I stupidly bought a bag of a well known pet food chain's own grain free food. Huge mistake! Dreadful dandruff, sore, itchy skin (hot spots) and (lots of) large soft poos were the result. Since changing to Akela (fish feast, big paws), the dandruff and hot spots have disappeared and my dog's coat is now thick and gleaming (and this all took under a month). He doesn't shed as much fur either - always a bonus! The poos are small and solid and easy to pick up (an important factor as any dog owner will confirm!). My dog is thriving on this food and I can't recommend it highly enough.

My 10 month old miniature poodle is now on her second 10kg bag of Akela dog food. She started on the original 80:20 and is now on the fish feast. Both have proved to be very popular. She is happy, healthy and with a beautiful shiny coat. Wouldn't use anything else.

“Eureka! Akela!”
Reviewed 1st December 2015
I've been looking for a kibble that contains the right things and that my dogs love. Found it in Akela 80:20 Original. First time I've felt confident enough to buy a large bag of dry food. They loved the Fish variety and I'm about to try the Lamb & Apple. Competitively priced too - and beats the rest because the composition is so good.

“Only Buy The Best For Your Fury Little Friend!”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
I've been searching for a dog food for months now that not only contains the best ingredients but one that my dog loves too. After trying several raw diets it became apparent that my 10 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier only really liked food that "crunched" but I found it incredibly difficult to find one that was both dry and also contained the best ingredients without fillers. Until now. After reading several reviews all stating that the quality of ingredients were the best around I decided to order a sample and straight away my dog loved it. I've since ordered the larger 10kg bags and never looked back. My dog loves it and has never missed a meal since (a common occurance on other food when he grew bored of them). I no longer have to compromise between my dogs love of crunchy food and the poorer quality fillers and ingredients found in most other popular brands as Akela combines the best ingredients in the texture that my dog loves. Thanks to the team at Akela for delivering a great food with a great service! The food is delivered incredibly quickly and even though it is one of the best foods I've tried, it is still considerably cheaper than the more "popular" brands using cheap fillers.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
I've been doing a lot of research on the internet about optimal nutrition for dogs and Akela is by far the best quality product for the price. I wasn't sure if my Westie would like it but he literally hoovered it up from the first time he tried it the sample. His stomach has been much better since he has been eating this and he seems to be less hungry afterwards. I love the fact that it's made in Britain as well from very high quality ingredients. I'm so glad we made the change to Akela!

“Probably the best dog food”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
It must taste good. My whippet is so fussy, I sometimes think he would rather starve than eat food he doesn't like. Since starting on Wholeprey he eats well, appears fit and healthy and, quite importantly, produces fewer gaseous emissions than before! I thought at first that it was expensive but he needs far less of this food than others he has tried. I recommend this dog food wholeheartedly.

“The best dog food yet!!!”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
My GSD is 8 next week and has a sensitive stomach. We have tried so many foods, most being the top expensive brands. Akela is by far the best and he loves it. He is on half the amount per day than with the other foods & I've noticed a big difference in him (no more soft/sloppy poo's), & it's better on my purse too.

“A good quality dog food without the air miles.”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
I have recently switched to Akela WholePrey (small paws) after using Acana and Orijen for my puppy, which were the brands recommended to me. I did a quick ingredients check before purchase and it seemed to more than match the quality of the other two and with much less cost. I'm on my second large bag now and my Border Terrier (although not known for being fussy) still wolfs it down, coming back to lick the bowl. He's a good weight and has plenty of energy for long walks. I intend to keep using it.

“Absolutely fantastic”
Reviewed 30th November 2015
I have 3 female dogs, a Samoyed, a Dalmatian and a Newfoundland. I switched to Akela about 8 months ago from feeding them Arden Grange for years. I will never change to any other dog food. My Samoyed is extremely picky, but she loves Akela always finishing her bowl, something she didn't always do on Arden Grange. My Dalmation has had a few skin problems in the past but since switching to Akela her skin has been fine and the coat on my Newfoundland is so shiny, people comment all the time on how lovely it looks. I recently took all 3 dogs to the vets for their annual boosters and check ups, the vet said all 3 were a picture of health. A really good price when you compare it to other 80/20 dog foods..... Please, please never stop making it. If you care about your dogs health and nutrition defiantly try Akela, you will not be disappointed.

My two miniature dachshunds absolutely love Akela 80:20 original, especially since the small paws version of small kibble has been launched. We would recommend it unreservedly and we like the fact that our two boys are eating quality food and not the usual stuff they shove into kibble. We have a springer spaniel and my step daughter has a little Yorkshire terrier and both dogs absolutely love Akela. The Yorkie was such a fussy eater with most other foods having been tried but nothing could tempt him to eat until we tried a sample of Akela and now he cleans his bowl every time.

Although our Springer has never been fussy with his food he has always preferred many other things to eating but when we started feeding him Akela he too finishes off every morsel and we couldn't have happier or healthier dogs
