“AVOID AT ALL COSTS - They Delay then don't pay”
Reviewed 6th November 2023
If you really must use these charlatans then please read every bit of documentation, including the links to their website or they will wriggle out of payment. My dog had an accident 13 weeks ago - and they have gone back and forth, taken ages to do anything, then wriggled of paying on a buried clause in their policy wording because my dog is a cross breed and might have one of their selected (not covered) breeds in him. Appalling and i urge you to go elsewhere! I am a responsible dog owner, who will always insure my pet - but with this policy I may as well have not had any insurance at all!

“Avoid at all costs”
Reviewed 12th April 2023
A claim submitted in November 2022 and am writing this review in April 2023 still hasnt been paid. I am absolutely disgusted how incompetent this company is at this time especially grieving after loosing my poor dog, let alone having countless telephone conversations to no satisfaction whatsoever. They have actually paid the complete wrong vet practice and are refusing to pay my own vets until they get the money back from them… in the mean time passing my personal details to a complete stranger. This case has now been logged with the financial services ombudsman and am in the process of contacting the broken information commissioners office because of their breach in GDPR. Please avoid this pet insurance at all cost. Completely digusted

“Feel ripped off ”
Reviewed 7th September 2022
I've not claimed in ten years but last month when I had to take my dog to the vets poorly I paid them £450 and they submitted me a claim the next day I was referred to a consultant another £450 which I paid £45 who said she's to poorly so I had to put her to sleep, I paid £300
My insurance Asda pet insurance
deducted £255 for the the vet visits which is standard then because the insurance which I renewed the month previous is cancelled due to the dog been diseased they deducted another £495 as I've had to pay up to the next renewal date this left me owing the vet hundreds of pounds.
Thank you Asda pet insurance you have just added more grief to what has been a very sad time for me. Sorry for going on but please check the small print on your insurance policy.????????????

“Paid when I needed them to.”
Reviewed 30th April 2020
As soon as I got my puppy (Roxy) I took ASDA pet insurance Vital Lifetime, which offered the best cover for the premium I paid. However, you don't know how good your insurance is until you need to use it. Well, when my dog was 1.5 years old she felt ill and had to be admitted into intensive care. At the time of admission I didn't know if my insurance would cover the cost of the treatment as it was late weekend evening and this caused me a lot of stress. I read online reviews of ASDA pet insurance and most people were giving them very little rating so I was convinced that ASDA will decline my claim for £1500. I have missed Roxy's buster vaccine, which was overdue by 3 months (I didn't do it on purpose. I was told by my vet that when the next vaccine is due they will inform me, which obviously didn't happen and I didn't realised). Roxy also had other visits to the vet in relation to different problems so I was thinking that ASDA will just pick up on all these things and decide not to pay as I've read on forums that insurance companies will try everything just so they don't pay out. However, ASDA paid everything in a timely manner and kept me up to date so I cannot really fault them. My renewal just came through and the increase in the premium is of about 30%, which was only about 7% in the previous year where I had no claims. However, my premium was not that high in the first place so even with the increase it's still good. So far so good.

“Good service”
Reviewed 5th May 2015
I insured my nine year old dog with Asda after she had a series of accidents. One of these accidents cost us over£4,000 in vet fees. Although, as expected, Asda would not insure that leg they cover the rest of her body.
She went on to develop not one but three serious health problems and they paid out over £4,000 on one of them and several thousand on the others.
The only complaint and the reason for 4 stars is that I thought I was buying lifetime insurance and, when I insured my second dog with them, I found out that there is a limit per condition. I had their top insurance and, within 3 years, had claimed the maximum benefit of £6,000 for her Addisons Disease. She was still covered for other conditions but I was left with no cover for her Addisons for the rest of her life.
They also brought in a co-insurance clause which meant that I had to pay a percentage of the fee. This is not what I signed up for though I understand that it is becoming more common for long term illnesses.
