“Willow - Labrador puppy”
Reviewed 13th February 2023
When I initially spoke to Philip on the phone he gave me loads of information before I even booked him for a visit. His visit lasted 3 hours which flew by during which he covered every aspect of training my pup to (hopefully) calm down and react to commands better. He followed his visit with emails and links to follow and the offer to ring him if I had any worries and update him on progress. He even taught my 8 year old Lab a new trick. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone with doggy issues.

A very professional trainer we will be calling again when we meet another obstacle in this marathon of training

“WOW! Couldn't Recommend More Highly!”
Reviewed 20th July 2021
My partner and I were becoming incredibly stressed out by our 1y8m old Beagle's behaviour (primarily around his excessive and loud barking, separation anxiety, and general naughtiness with other people) and were worried that we'd inevitably have to give him up - which was the last thing we wanted to do as we love him so, so much!

We shopped around for Norfolk-based dog trainers/behaviourists and found that most people were really expensive (one was £275!!!) and/or only doing sessions via video calls (even once Covid-19 restrictions were going to be lifted). Then we found Phil, who was reasonably priced and made contact with us incredibly fast. He spent time on the phone building up an understanding of our dog and his 'issues', offered some advice then and there, and was available to come out to us and begin our session a lot sooner than we could have imagined - which was amazing!

Phil had such a lovely approach; he was incredibly friendly, down-to-earth, and knowledgeable but explained everything to us in a way that made sense to us. He had an amazing insight into dog behaviour and why they behave and respond to humans in the way they do. This was so helpful for us as dog parents to get into the mind of our dog. He then broke down all the skills and techniques into basic and comprehendible steps. Phil covered areas that we'd never have thought of to help with our dog's behaviour. We were amazed by the amount of help, advice and guidance that Phil provided us with. He then summed up all that was covered in emails that were very detailed but, again, were explained in a manner that was understandable. He also made it clear that we can contact him again - or he could come back out to visit us again - if we need further support, which was reassuring for us.

We couldn't recommend Phil and his service more highly. Even after our first phone call we felt more relaxed and confident that our dog was 'fixable'. It's only been a few days since our visit from Phil, but already I'm noticing a difference in our dog's behaviour, which has blown us away. We know we still have a way to go, and it may be 'one step forward two steps back' at times, but we finally feel like we're on the right track!

If, like us, you have a dog (or dogs) that are making you pull your hair out, feel fearful that they are 'unfixable', and that you just cannot cope anymore, then give Phil a call or email. You'll wish you done it sooner!

“Absolutely THE BEST!”
Reviewed 18th July 2021
Phil has been helping me with my rescue dog and I am so grateful for everything he has done and no doubt will be doing! The lovely thing about Phil is that he is on the end of the phone or e mail if you get into any issues! Phil genuinely loves dogs and took his time assessing the situation, giving advice and making Micky the absolute core of everything he does. I was impressed by his website when looking to select a trainer and i have to say that the reality reflects every word of his website and more! I have taken on board his advice and while its slow steps we are making great progress. I will be inviting Phil back for a walk with us soon so he can advise on anything I need to improve on. I was really taken by the time he takes with us and its true, he doesn't charge by the hour, its one fee and my word we were certainly not rushed! If you are looking for a trainer who wants the very best for your 4 legged best friend then look no further!

Phil was brilliant with our rescued boxer. She needed a bit of basic training but I was nervous about taking her out as i had been told she hated cats and she was reactive against female dogs. Phil is so calm and patient and although Bella was nervous at the beginning, she quickly began to relax and so did i! With a few more short walks with Bella I’m sure we will both have more confidence and enjoy longer walks, thank you phil ????

“Great dog trainer”
Reviewed 16th December 2020
From first contact Philip was very friendly and very quick when we rang up he came and saw us the next day. We were having issues with our one year old Bernese jumping up at other dogs out of excitement when on the lead. It’s nearly been a month since he has been and there has been substantial progress!
When Philip came he was very knowledgable and gave us lots of tips just in the way we were with Lena but also on some common things that may come up in the future. Philip was very clear and the emails he sent after were invaluable so that I could go back to check we were doing it correctly. 5 stars from us!

Phil came to our home to meet with our puppy and to explain to us the basic training to support a happy and healthy dog. He spent 3 hours with us and when he left my partner and I both felt a lot more confident and knowledgeable, we felt armed with the right information to support our dog. We were particularly impressed and interested in Phil's knowledge about canine behaviour. The follow up information he has provided has been very interesting reading. Highly recommend!

“Bags of information, and ongoing support. ”
Reviewed 11th October 2020
When looking for a trainer you quickly realise it’s going to cost you a fortune, even for one hour, but not with Phil. We had three hours and a host of information and our dog loved him, quickly learning without fear. Everything was explained and demonstrated and we know we can contact Phil if we need further support. Our Maisie is loving the training and starting to realise that actually she can trust us, and that perhaps we do know what we are doing after all! We know it’s going to take time and effort to get Maisie where we want her to be, a happy confident dog, but I now feel better equipped and more understanding of how Maisie thinks and what she wants of me. We weren’t judged for our mistakes and the small charge Phil makes for his excellent service is incredible. Would highly recommend.

“Amazing - definitely recommend! ”
Reviewed 21st August 2020
As new dog owners, we wanted to make sure we got off to the best start when our puppy arrived home with us at 8 weeks. We contacted Phil a few weeks before her arrival, he gave us so much advice and was clearly very knowledgable. Lots of people had warned us off crate training as miniature dachshunds are a stubborn breed, but will Phil’s advice and support she has used her crate from day 1, in a positive environment that she uses on her own accord. Would definitely recommend Phil and will continue to use him if required in the future!

“So reassuring”
Reviewed 2nd August 2020
Although experienced dog owners, we were very nervous about introducing our middle-aged bitch to a boisterous eight-week old male puppy who would not stop jumping up at her. I was anxious that the bitch didn't actually attack him as I wanted to get them off to a better start than that. Philip came as soon as I called him and spent a good deal of time watching the dogs together, after which he suggested many helpful tips and techniques for avoiding canine conflict! This boosted our confidence and his follow-up attachments , videos and recommendations have proved extremely helpful and I'm happy to report that the dogs are developing a healthy and harmonious relationship. They have a little way to go but knowing that Phil is on the end of the phone is so very reassuring. He is an immensely knowledgeable and experienced trainer and I'm so pleased we found him.

“Young nervous springer spaniel”
Reviewed 6th March 2020
Absolutely brilliant! We have a 9 month old very lively but a little nervous springer spaniel. The nearly 3 hours that Philip spent with us was full of advice, help, useful suggestions and practical demonstrations. It became quickly obvious that it is the human being that needs most of the training but it was incredible to see how quickly ‘Henry’ the springer reacted to what he was being taught. My only problem was that by the end of the session my mind was so full of things that had been said that I felt that I would not remember most things - not a problem - the follow up paperwork and videos are proving extremely useful and will hopefully result in a very happy but confident young dog [and owner].
Many thanks Philip.

Reviewed 6th December 2019
We recently had Phil out to us for some advice with our 11 week old puppy who has issues with us leaving, Phil set up a plan for us to follow to help improve his confidence and hopefully help him when he is alone. After the visit we had more questions and emailed a video across of Wilson howling to which Phil quickly responded. If you are new dog owners like ourselves you would definitely benifit from this service and he is also a genuinly nice guy.

“Brilliant Trainer with great empathy for dogs”
Reviewed 24th November 2019
My husband and I foolishly forgot just how demanding a young puppy can be even though we’ve been dog owners for many years. When we lost our last girl at the age of 15 years we took a few months before we got our new little lab cross cocker and named her Pepper. We had been through a great deal of family trauma in the past two years as a result of my son being involved in a very serious car crash, not of his doing, so we thought that a new puppy would be a good distraction. Wrong.... it just added to our already overloaded stress levels! We were doing really well with the indoor training but Pepper , or rather we, just couldn’t master walking without being dragged.
So in desperation and feeling defeated I contacted Phil who answered my email by a phone call very quickly. He was so reassuring on the phone and even more in person. He visited us four days later and undertook a very thorough questioning of exactly where we were with Peppers training and soon gave us his thoughts. He demonstrated the techniques with Pepper in such a quiet but assertive manner and she got them really quickly. He then accompanied us on a walk showing and talking us through the methods. Both of us being retired research scientists means we have a need to understand the theories behind the techniques and Phil is very sound on his understanding of canine psychology.
After nearly three hours with us he then emailed the next day enclosing numerous documents and links to help us and a full breakdown of all he had told us. We both feel he undersells himself as his costs are very reasonable especially given the depth and breadth of his knowledge. Please do use him if you have any problem areas with your dog, whatever age or breed. He is just brilliant!

“Josh cocker spaniel pup”
Reviewed 6th November 2019
Having recently lost our 15 year old cocker companion the arrival of this tiny bundle requiring assurance, love and guidance has a been a bit of a wake up call. What have we done, were has all our free time disappeared to? Spotting Phil's add in our local parish magazine one evening I pinged him an email requesting some polishing of our long forgotten and outdated puppy skills. He replied immediately and visited a few days later, he was able to give us a very thorough and comprehensive guide to implement over the coming months. These were backed up by links and articles to review and refresh our technique if it did not all go to plan!  A very professional and calm approach, we would feel confident asking him further advise should the need arise, highly recommend.

My 18month old miniature dachshund, who we didn’t get to raise from a pup. Started to show aggression as a result of fear.
Phil asked me what areas I’d like to cover with ginger and how to train her accordingly. Phil listened, was very informative helpful and friendly. He also has the patients of a saint when my yappy pup wouldn’t stop barking!
Only a week in and we are practising all things taught to us , Ginger is improving rapidly and becoming more and more confident with dogs and people.

“Brilliant Trainer”
Reviewed 3rd August 2019
I was really struggling with Lola after a long period of illness. She wanted constant attention and I was finding it hard to cope. Philip understood the situation right from the first telephone call. When he came he was kind, calm and Lola loved him! He was willing to work with us to find solutions that I could implement. It's only been a few days but the transformation in Lola has been lovely to see; I can now get on with what I need to do without worrying about my (previously) mischievous pup! The training information he sent was thorough, but easy to follow. I'd highly recommend and will certainly be calling Philip in again if we encounter any other issues.

Philip came out and seemed and sounded very helpful spent over two hours given tips on training her then said he would send some paperwork over email waited then had to phone up as didn't come after all the advice came which was great on paper but her background is bad socialising with other dogs. he Then came out another two visits where he saw the trouble i was having and said he would revisit to help me with this and after a few phone calls still haven't seen him and this was three months ago so i got still a very troubled dog so we are hoping in time she will come out of her trouble with patience as nobody seems to want to know. Phil's service both to our dog Nero and ourselves was excellent. Phil was highly knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly. He was very thorough and spent two hours here which included accompanying us on a walk with the dog. He was very observant and we were impressed by his level of observation, noting things which were very relevant to improving our dogs behaviour. Our dog isn't aggressive but we are having obedience issues and Phil provided us with a wealth of very useful tips and methods. This was given verbally, discussed with us during his visit and then followed up in a detailed helpful report afterwards. We think Phil provides an outstanding level of service, is great value for money and would thoroughly recommend him to you.

Not only did he have my dog taking food from his hand which is the first time Alfie has ever done with strangers he even got Alfie grasping the idear of leave alone.
Phil never rushed anything and explained everything in great detail from diet to doing away with treats so the dog uses command and not treats.
Phil also explained everything in away I could understand which means a lot being I'm dyslexic.
