Exton, Devon, England
Worth a visit
Deceptively modern inside, there’s lots of space here for dogs and a nice outside garden - although it was raining when we went! Great menu, gastro pub rather than traditional, making the most of local ingredients. Good service and well worth visiting.

Lunch on the Quay
You can probably appreciate the location of this pub more in summer as outside it has a view of the river and the Quay, but we enjoyed our lunch here. Dogs are welcome and there is a treat jar with biscuits. Nicely done inside and good food. Dogs are allowed in the bar area - there was a nice fire in the ‘formal’ eating area of the pub and it would have been even nicer had the one in the bar been lit too!
Poole, Dorset, England
This pub is just off Poole Harbour in a small street but worth seeking out. Our dog got a warm welcome and enjoyed his treat from the jar on the bar. There was lots of space for him to lie down as well. We enjoyed our food too and the prices were reasonable. Service was warm and friendly.
Furzehill, Dorset, England
Just outside Wimborne in Furzehill this is a traditional, old fashioned pub with a standard pub menu. There is a dog friendly area with a fair amount of space. Food was ok if nothing special and service was on the slow side.
Great wet fold - dog loves it
We moved to Forthglade when another wet meat producer we were using changed its manufacturing process and we're glad we did. Not only is the Forthglade food a better consistency, there's a great range of flavours and the plastic tray it comes in means that there's no waste so it goes further. And the dog loves it too!

Lovely location, lovely food
This is a great venue overlooking Hive Beach. Dogs are welcome in all parts of the cafe. We visited on a typical June (blustery) day and the plastic covers and heaters in the main area gave protection from the elements. As it was difficult to get a table there we opted for the 'marquee' area which, again was sheltered and gave great views. Lots of dog watering stations and home baked dog biscuits available for sale at the till. The seafood is really fresh and good quality although the whole crab presented a bit of a challenge! You have to queue at times to order the food which can be a bit off putting if you want a dessert or another round of drinks but this is more than offset by the food and location. And a great place for a post lunch walk on the cliffs with your four legged friend!
Beer, Devon, England
Nice place, good food
To be fair there are quite a few places in Beer you can take dogs. We chose this one as it offered a range of seafood and light lunches and what we saw looked good. Dogs are welcome inside but we sat on the benches outside to watch the world go by. We chose the ploughmans and a sandwich both of which were good, although the wait was a bit long as they were short staffed. A cut above the usual pub fayre and a good dog friendly option in this quaint seaside town.
Great service, great products
We sought out Animal House whilst on holiday in the area as our Golden Retriever had a nasty graze to his head which he insisted on scratching. We got really helpful advice on what we could use to help healing and prevent infection - tea tree oil - and the shop had a wide stock of good quality treats at reasonable prices as well as a whole host of other things for all animals. We left not only with tea tree oil but with a bag of sprats - omega 3 good for the coat - and a bag of doggie popcorn! Shame we don't live nearer as this is a gem of a shop.

Lovely gardens - well worth a visit
We found these gardens while searching the web for somewhere to go with the dog whilst staying in the area. We spent half a day wandering round and enjoying lunch in the undercroft (dogs also allowed inside). The gardens were well kept and there were lots of different areas to see. The fountain was great although it's only on at certain times. Dogs are allowed on leads, which is fine, ours would have ended up in the pond otherwise! The plant centre was good - lots of unusual plants at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit. The entrance fee was £10 for the garden only which we felt was justified given how much the upkeep must cost.
