Lovely place to visit
A great dog friendly garden a coupe of miles outside Bakewell. Has far reaching views over the Derbyshire countryside as well as a 12 acre garden to explore with a scented garden, an Italian garden and a koi carp lake. There is a terrace for refreshments and you can also take your dog inside if it’s raining. Fantastic selection of plants for sale too. Only £7 entry and you can use your Gardeners World 241 card too.

Great Cafe!
Stopped here for lunch on the way for a walk on Camber Sands. As it was December it was great to find somewhere that was (very) dog friendly and had excellent food at very reasonable prices. The owner made a real fuss of our dog and dog treats were on offer.

We had an all day breakfast, bacon sandwich, dog sausage (yum), hot chocolate and a Diet Pepsi for £13! The place itself is nicely done out and very cosy and the service was very welcoming and friendly and they love dogs!

A fantastic garden
This is a not to be missed garden! 20 acres of wonderful planting and walkways and very dog friendly. They have an amazing collection of plants some of which are difficult to grow elsewhere. Our dog enjoyed walking around the well marked paths and he even got a biscuit at the entrance. There’s also a cafe/restaurant with a large outdoor seating area. A must visit if in the area.

Nice relaxing pub off the Thames path
Lovely pub situated in a village just outside Henley on the Thames path. There was a roaring fire in the bar which was nice for a cold January day and our dog liked watching it. Staff were friendly and offered the dog water and made a fuss of him. The food was high end, not particularly cheap, but a nice place after a winter’s walk.

Dog friendly cafe on the beach
We were really pleased to find that this cafe was dog friendly downstairs on a cold January day after a visit to the beautiful Durley Chine beach and we weren’t the only ones as the place was full of dogs! We didn’t eat but the breakfast menu looked worth a try and enjoyed the hot drinks. Doggie treats available too as well as dog ice cream!

Start of the fireworks season!
Our dog has not normally been that bothered by fireworks before, but the start of the firework season this year has made him jumpy and he was barking loudly at every bang. We tried a couple of Rescue Remedy drops to see if it would help and he certainly seemed calmer afterwards and much less bothered by the noise. Would definitely try these in other situations as well if he seemed anxious.

Dog friendly but food a bit disappointing
We couldn't find too many dog friendly pubs in Beaconsfield and our dog was certainly welcomed here with lots of cuddles from the staff and an unsolicited water bowl. Whilst the service was good, we were disappointed with lack of choice on food options and the quality of what we ordered. The pub itself is old, quaint and cosy so good for drinks with your dog if not necessarily for food.

Impressive garden - and dog friendly
We visited this garden when the Unusual Plant and Garden Fair was on so the garden was very busy. I suspect that in September the gardens are at their peak and the planting was very impressive and colourful. You'd need a fairly big garden to try it at home though! Dogs are welcome on a lead and water bowls were freely available. The entrance charge is £7 and it was worth it with the plant fair although the garden itself isn't very big. There is a tea shop which sells tea/coffee/soft drinks and cakes and ice cream. Staff were helpful and friendly and there was free car parking which is always a bonus.

Great for dogs with weak nails
Our dog's nails were very short. On the plus side it meant that we didn't have to have them clipped but they were always at risk of breaking if he scratched them on the pavement which would cause them to bleed.

We found this product through an Internet search. It contains biotin which promotes strong nail growth in dogs. Humans take biotin too which also helps skin and hair. It takes a while to see results - ours has been taking it for four months - but he now has noticeable nails which are growing well.

We buy the product from Viovet but you can also get it elsewhere online.

Wow, wow, wow
This restaurant is owned by Anthony Worrall Thompson and is a lovely place. We chose it as a venue to celebrate my husband's birthday because we could also take the dog. The dog got a very warm welcome - and a water bowl - and so did we. The staff certainly do like dogs. The food and service were both excellent and the dog enjoyed the (small) amounts of beef and lamb he got. The beef was particularly highly recommended . We'd certainly go back and there was a nice garden outside which would be nice in the summer. It was very reasonable for the quality of the food.

Great place for food - and for the dog!
Given that this bar/brasserie has not long opened, we phoned ahead to check that we were able to take our dog to eat and were told that they were welcome in the bar area. The bar area is quite large and there was plenty of space for our retriever to lie down without bothering the other customers. We got a water bowl on request which came complete with a bowl of dog biscuits. We enjoyed our food too - and the set menu available before 6.30pm is very good value. It's got a cosy atmosphere and is a step up from your traditional pub and it's nice to have somewhere like that to go with the dog. Recommended.
