Well located, comfortable cottage
We enjoyed our short break at the Swallow Cottage. There were lots of great walks to the beach and the Donkey Sanctuary for us and the dog, just a short walk from the cottage and it's well located for exploring further afield.

The cottage itself was clean, quiet and very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for David, the manager, who gave us lots of helpful tips and ideas and was always on hand to answer our queries. He made a fuss of our dog too. Would certainly recommend for a dog friendly break in this part of the world.

Nice pub near Hampton Court and Bushy Park
This pub is very convenient for both dog walking in Hampton Court and Bushy Park. We went on a freezing cold January lunchtime so it wasn't very busy but it was nice and warm and the dogs were made welcome with water and biscuits. The menu's not extensive but the food was well cooked and good for a winter's day. Imagine it gets much busier in summer though.

Great place for lunch
This pub is in the centre of Bridport and allows dogs in the bar. It 's more like a gastropub inside than a traditional one and has a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The menu's not extensive but the food was excellent with friendly service. Great for a nice lunch in a pleasant environment.

Lovely country pub
We ate twice with our dog while staying in the area once outside in the garden and once in the bar area and were warmly welcomed by the staff on both occasions. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and there was a water bowl for the dog who felt very at home here. Would highly recommend.

Lovely day out - for us and the dog
We were going to go to the National Trust at Killerton but dogs are only allowed in the grounds so we chose Hestercombe instead where dogs are allowed in the grounds, formal gardens and inside the Stables Cafe - great for a cold, damp day. It costs £11 entrance which we thought was reasonable given how much the cost of upkeep must be. Dogs have to be kept on a short lead - which wasn't a problem - and it was good to see dog bins around the park. It took us just over an hour and a half to do the circuit of the grounds (but we did walk quickly) and we then enjoyed a pleasant lunch in the cafe and ended with a walk round the formal gardens which were lovely. Would also recommend the plants in the shop which were very reasonable and in great condition and thank you too to the kind lady who gave our dog a treat in the shop. Very dog friendly and perfect for a day out.

A lovely little sandy beach
This is a small sandy beach where dogs are allowed all year round. It's very pretty and unspoiled and our dog loved swimming in the sea and fetching his ball in the water. To get there though you have to walk down a steep path (which includes some steps) as cars aren't allowed down so it's not for the faint hearted. The cafe also wasn't open when we went in May. Not sure if that's because it wasn't high season or whether it's permanently shut. But a great place for dogs! And the car park is free which is a bonus.

Great views and food but best to book ahead
This restaurant has a great view over the bay and lovely food. Dogs are allowed inside in the front covered area (which is actually the best place as it has the best views) and outside at the side of the restaurant (not so great at the moment due to the building work next door and weather dependent). We were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked and there was lots of space for our dog and a water bowl on request. We had a lovely lunch - the specials board had some tempting dishes, particularly fish ones - although they did seem to run out quickly so maybe best to eat early - the mussels and lamb curry were both excellent. As was the Snickers dessert although the dog couldn't have any unfortunately! Recommended.
