Not traditional but very effective!
Ken has a very different approach to a traditional dog trainer as he bases his work on balancing your dog in relation to its breed, its personality and its primal instincts. It was very interesting to understand why our dog was behaving the way it was and how relatively easy it would be to correct this. As always, the proof is the change in behaviour rather than the theory, and we have already seen a major change with our dog now happily jumping into our car rather than refusing to get in! The day was as much about our interaction with our dog and understand how our energy can have such an impact on his behaviour. Would recommend Ken to any dog owner, especially if you have been unsuccessful with a traditional dog trainer.

Bottoms up!
We bought our dog some Bottom Sniffer beer as a treat for his birthday. We weren't sure whether he would like it but he drunk nearly the whole bottle in one go, going back for a few more sips at a time. He said he felt a bit light headed afterwards

Wish we lived here!
This pub came very well recommended and we weren't disappointed. Dogs are allowed in the back of the bar and it's a large space where big dogs have space to stretch out. The staff were very dog friendly and he got his own little plate of dog biscuits which he very much enjoyed.! And we had a fantastic meal too. We started with the BBQ platter, followed by the sea bass (the best we've tasted) and then a chocolate crepe to die. We all waddled home very happy.

My favourite doggie beach
This is a lovely place. A sizeable beach - mostly sand but with some rock pools - and which is very much a dog beach. It has the added bonus that it's near a car park and the lifeboat cafe which overlooks the sea. The cafe has a wide range of food and drink, including lots of seafood if you're peckish after a bracing walk. My favourite Isle of Wight beach.

Nice beach for dogs
This took a bit of finding. To get there you follow directions for Lake beach although I think the dog friendly bit is actually called Dunroamin. We parked up near Sandown pier and it was only a short walk to the beach - just near the public toilets - although you can also get there from the car park at the far end of the beach at Shanklin (near the crazy golf). It's a sandy beach and there's a lot of space for the dogs to run and play and there's a couple of cafés nearby. It was high tide when we went (so best to check) and the waves were a bit choppy but our retriever loved it. Certainly worth a trip.

Very relaxing
A lovely place on the Esplanade overlooking the sea. We sat on the pretty terrace outside (although dogs are allowed inside) and had a very nice lunch of fresh mussels and homemade beef burger (which the dog approved of too). The service was friendly - the dog got a water bowl and they refilled and even offered to put ice in his water bottle when we left. The prices were very reasonable too.

Perfect start to our trip
Having run out of service stations on our way to the Isle of Wight ferry, we ended up at the seafront at Southsea and Mozzerella Joes and were glad we did. The sign outside says we love dogs and our dog got a water bowl and a bonio before we got our menus! We chose to sit outside overlooking the sea as it was a nice day and the colourfully painted tables and benches gave it a seaside feel. We had bacon and sausage ciabattas which were freshly cooked with high quality ingredients. There's a park across the road where dogs can go off lead so, all in all, a fantastic stop and only five minutes from the ferry.
