“Only care about money”
Reviewed 24th October 2023
After 11 appointments they failed to diagnose a simple ACL tear, we ended up going to another clinic and got it resolved in 1 week after Abbey failed to resolve it in 2 whole years. When we complained they gave us a one line written response to say they're not specialists. We'll why didn't you refer me to one then?

My dog eat some rat poison but luckily enough we found out what it was. I immediately called Abbey vets and they was fantastic, the vet was called Rebecca and we cannot thank her enough. My dog is absolutely fine now thanks to Rebecca, this could have been the end of my dogs life and she is only 16 months old. Thanks guys.

Wow couldn't believe these bad reviews all 3 of my dogs are registered with Abbey Cudworth branch and I wouldn't go anywhere else .Rebecca, the vet is fantastic sorted my ageing gsd with arthritis and also my 3yr old gsd with hip dysplasia, luckily my other dog has no heath issues and all three are living their best life .I have always found Rebecca to be kind caring and very knowledgeable and both Katie and Bev are never anything but friendly and welcoming
Big shout out for the Cudworth teamx

“All about the money”
Reviewed 29th April 2021
I have used abbey for 2 years but over the last few months my Dog has had a lot of health issues so have been there a lot I recently requested all my invoices and could not believe the charges they put on they charged we £37.95 consultation fee and then £17 to look in my dogs eye with a split lamp which took not even 1 minute I asked why the lamp examination was not included in the consultation and they said because it isn’t, I have since moved to another vets and cannot believe the things that abbey made you pay for that the new vet include in consultation. I feel they do not care about the animals it’s just how much money they can make out of you. I will never use this vets again

“Pregnant bulldog and puppies died”
Reviewed 21st February 2021
The beloved pet of a member of my family died, along with all of her unborn puppies, whilst under their care. They saw her twice the day and evening before, after we were concerned with her welfare, and was discharged home both times. She was brought back to Abbey vets the following morning, seriously unwell, but it was too late to save her. They asked about trying to save the unborn puppies and took payment from a member of my family whilst she was outside the practice, terribly upset after immediately being told her beloved pet had died.

I requested information from the vets, which they did send, and in good time. I was not satisfied with all the information so requested further information, and I said that I believed that they were responsible and requested the repayment of all costs. Abbey vets do not accept any responsibility whatsoever, they stated this in an email and they also stated that some of my questions were “irrelevant” and threatened me with legal action, should I state anything libellous or slanderous, hence me only stating the facts that we believe are correct, and not expressing an opinion.

We tried to resolve the matter by asking a neutral body, the veterinary client mediation service, to try and open a mediation channel between ourselves and Abbey vets, but unfortunately Abbey vets have declined to participate whatsoever, which leaves us no option but to pursue legal action at a later date.

I believe all of these statements to be factual, but if Abbey vets can prove them not to be within 7 days of this review, I will absolutely apologise unreservedly and withdraw these comments. I also believe that Abbey vets have a right to respond to this comment and I welcome that if they believe any of my review to be incorrect or misleading.

“Poor service for a veterinary ”
Reviewed 23rd August 2020
My Yorkshire terrier was taken into hospital last Wednesday at Abbey Vets in Barnsley because she was not well. I asked the vet treating her if I should think of putting her to sleep and he said yes because she was so poorly. I arranged to she my dog on Thursday tea time and to decide what course of action to take on her. We decided to put my dog to sleep but before the vet would do it we had to pay the outstanding Vet bill even though my dog was in so much pain. After my dog was put to sleep the support from the Barnsley branch staff was poor with nobody consoling us. To me all they want to do is make has much money off the pets owner and don’t care what the pet owner is going through at that time of need. Is paying the vet bill more important than helping my dog. I just thought it was so heartless. If anybody think of using Abbey Vets look else where.

“Lacking any interest”
Reviewed 15th March 2020
For 14 years we used them for our pets, when our cocker spaniel had an appt to agree he needed warts removing the vet did not touch him or look closely at his warts he asked we point them out. A few weeks later when we took him for the warts off he had 3 more and they had grown. We were then told he had lymphoma and had 2 week to 2 month to live being in latter stages, he kept going for 4 which was amazing. However in the end when we needed end of life treatment it had to be by appointment and only what time they had spare. Therefore we took him to another vet who we had never used and they said no appointment was needed, bring him when u can. Vets 4 pets were amazingly empathic shame on abbey vets!!

“Worst vets around”
Reviewed 14th September 2017
Rude staff, nurses that haven't a clue what they're doing... left waiting listening to the receptionist slating other staff members! Vet didn't seem to have a clue what was wrong with my dog! Will be taking my dog else where to a vets that generally care!!! All about the money couldn't have asked for payment quicker if they tried!! Doesn't deserve even a 1*

“They watched my puppy die”
Reviewed 23rd March 2016
Poor is 100% more than they deserve. I have no choice but to hit the paw to make my voice heard. I've spent thousands of pounds with them over the years with my numerous animals but it all ended when they made me watch my puppy die due to their failings , they wouldn't even allow me a vet to explain but fobbed me off with a nurse who knew nothing other than wanting to know when I would be paying for the cremation. Disgusting. And now despite several attempts and requsts from myself and my new vets for all my animals records we have nothing. You should be ashamed to call yourselves vets, carers of animals. You are leeches, caring only about money
