“Akela dog food”
Reviewed 2nd February 2017
We rescued a very overweight 4 year old labrad or about 8 months ago now and we put him on akela after a dog trainer recommend it. We have had labradors in the past, but I have never had one with such a brilliant coat, chilled out nature and really toned and healthy. I put this down to akela. I buy a 10kg bag for £34 and it lasts us about 5 week, which is less than £7 a week, so i think it's really good value too. I can't sing it's praises anymore, even the bag it comes in has a handy handle on the side and its resea label. Brilliant.l

“Better than I could have imagined ”
Reviewed 28th January 2017
I switched ebony, my seven year old Doberman onto this food around a year ago after seeing the company at a trade show. Ebony suffers with many food intolerance the biggest one being that she cannot digest meat, she also suffers from Addison's disease.

I have fed her countless good quality, high fish and botanicals diets since becoming aware of these intolerances. After around 4-6 months she would give up on a food and become less and less intestersted, until she just flat out refused to eat it. Taking into account that she has the appetite of a horse and never refuses food, the only option was to try different foods.

This would normally yield the same results within 4-6 months. I was literally feeding her the most expensive, highest percentage food, 60% fish, 40% botanicals, I could find and was genuinely worried I wouldn't find anything better when she decided she no longer wanted to eat it.

I saw Akela whole prey at a trade show and was surprised at the high fish content any the low price but thought I'd give it a try as ebony was beginning to get picky with the other food. She's been on it for around a year and is better than ever, her skin and coat are better, she smells less and she greadily eats every bit of it she's given without a second thought. It also has the distinct advantage of being much cheaper than any of the other foods I've tried. So glad we found you Akela, cannot recommmend highly enough

“Original”
Reviewed 18th January 2017
I have a GSD, he was bought up on raw food as a young pup but when we got him we didn't want to continue so found Akela. It's been amazing from the start. Our GSD loves it, his tummy is perfectly fine on it (GSD'S are prone to senative tummys) it gives him the energy to keep himself fit and athletic and as it's grain free it keeps him really lean. We love it!

“Very, very happy with Akela! ”
Reviewed 11th January 2017
We switched our girl too Akela original after she had finished the bags of puppy food coming from the breeder. The switch was easy and its been quite some months now and I am really happy with it! It smells like dog food but its not too horrible, we did take a sample of the fish but the smell of that one is unbelievable so we will stick with original. Charlie is regular as clockwork and I rest easy knowing we are feeding her good quality food! I also love that the feeding guide is offered in grams and is so detailed!

From a business stand point, I have been even more impressed! All my many questions leading up to our order were answered very quickly and in a friendly manner. When our first order arrived there was a small nick in one of the bags, presumably from the shipping, I let Akela know and they passed the info onto the couriers and gave us a discount code. Well when our very fast second order arrived yesterday, I was definitely impressed to see that the bags had extra tough sacks around them to protect them in transit! We are in Finland but even with the currency change and shipping, Akela ends up much cheaper than the better quality brands in stores here and its much easier to just worry about the dog food every 5 months and have 30kg delivered to the door! I had no idea buying dog food could be such a pleasant experience, thanks Akela!

“Inca loves Akela”
Reviewed 6th January 2017
I have a 9 year old chihuahua called inca and I absolutely adore her that's why I give her the best dry kibble out there! Akela! I have given her the Fish Feast and the Duck. She absolutely loves it eating it under 30 seconds! She totally scoffs it! I like the fact that it is a tiny size kibble which is perfect for very small dogs and puppies and indeed throughout their whole lifetime! Inca's coat is gleaming and she is very fit for her age! She is simply thriving on Akela. She loves the Fish treats too! Well done Wholeprey for this wonderful dog food!

“Amazing kibble ... top quality”
Reviewed 5th January 2017
I have quite possibly, the most fussy CKC spaniel around.
Having sampled Akela we went ahead and brought a supply.
Integrating it slowly into her diet has been a challenge, as, the little madam will pick out every single kibble of her old food, deposit it by her bowl and continue to eat the Akela.
She seems a lot more settled on Akela, her coat is glossy and her stools are firmer and easier passed.

The price on this is outstanding value, considering the same weight of similar class foods on the high street are at least £5 more expensive .

Highly recommend ... 5 Stars is simply not enough.

Reviewed 4th January 2017
I recently changed my staffy into this from a more expensive 80:20 food. His coat is shinier and softer and he is leaner and as a result looks more muscular. Even the vet commented how well he looked. I will be keeping him on this from now on!

“Dogs love it.”
Reviewed 30th December 2016
I have a Weimaraner and a Springer who have both been fed Akela for a year now. Our Springer was a rescue who arrived very thin and with a poor coat. Akela transformed her into a healthy dog. Our Weim became very picky and started to turn her nose up at very expensive dog foods that were clearly not worth the cost. Both have shiny soft coats and are happy contented dogs who love dinner time. I wouldn't feed anything else.

Reviewed 22nd December 2016
We have all eight of our dogs on Akela Original and they love it, we do like to give it too them with a little bit of warm water which makes a lovely gravy and we don't get any refusals. We have a mixture of collies, terriers and a lurcher, ranging from 2 years to 16 years and it suits all of them. They all have great coats, don't carry too much weight and are fit and healthy, we would recommend this food.

My 7 month old Cockapoo had gone off his other food so ordered a sample and he loved it. We made the switch and he now sits and waits for his meals as soon as he hears the cupboard open. He eats every bit and is doing very well on it. He loves the training treats too.

“Takes a lot to impress me!”
Reviewed 15th December 2016
We have a litter of 12 Golden Retriever puppies at the moment, we are using Akela for the first time and I just have to say how impressed I am with it! We have used other "no grain" completes previously but this has outshone them. It mixes easily to a paste when you need it too, the puppies love it, and (as only a breeder can) I just have to rave about the poos....so firm I can pick several up with one piece of kitchen towel and no smell.
We feed our adults a raw diet (although I always have a bag of complete here as well) and I have mixed some raw mince in the the Akela with the same excellent results.
We have been breeding 30+ years, and at this stage it takes a lot to impress me, but Akela......I am impressed!!!

“Excellent food”
Reviewed 15th December 2016
I have a 91/2 year old border collie cross who has always been fussy with food. She would eat a brand for a couple of months then go off it, so it was always a challenge finding yet another good quality food for her. She has now been on Akela for 18 months and still loves it. She has the energy of a dog half her age, a lovely glossy coat and good poos. She loves the taste and I love the lack of grain and other rubbish in the ingredients, plus the excellent service from the Suffolk Group.

“Fussy GSD's favourite ”
Reviewed 15th December 2016
I have never managed to get my GSD to eat dry food. Even when mixed with wet she would slowly pick each piece out and create a little modern art style sculpture at the side of her bowl with it. I was worried about her getting the right nutrition though and I when I saw the ingredients for Akela's 80:20 I ordered two sample bags (brilliant idea to offer this!) to try. She loved the Suffolk duck favour and seemed to think of them as treats. Encouraged I ordered the 10kg which arrived very quickly and I have slowly transitioned her over. First mixing with the wet (she ate it, no sculptures!) and she's now been fully on the dry for 3 days. Empty bowl, no upset tummy and a very happy dog so far. The ingredient list for this food is fantastic and it's well worth ordering the sample bags to try.

“Probably the best dog food out there!”
Reviewed 13th December 2016
When we first got our Vizsla pup we tried a few different brands but neither we nor the puppy felt really happy with any of those that we tried. Then, through a bit of research we discovered Akela and we haven't looked back. He absolutely loves it and Akela brings out the best in him - plenty of energy, fantastic shiny coat and he sits drooling waiting to be served which he doesn't do with anything else. Such a great product demands great service and the folks at Akela WholePrey never disappoint with quick turnaround on orders and great feedback on the status. Others might be cheaper but when you look at the ingredients I don't think they can be beaten on value.

I don't usually write reviews however I feel that after using this dog food for a year now I need to let you know just how good it is. Our 8yr old springer/lab cross has a very weak / sensitive stomach and suffered from poor skin. I found this product on a web site thought give it a go. Our dog absolutely loves it his coat is the best it's ever been so shiny. It is great for his stomach and his energy has increased. So much so that our family and two neighbors have been converted . Can't recommend it enough.

I found out about Akela on a dog food comparision site which gave it 5 out of 5. I thought I was giving my best friend a good diet but the brand I was using was only 3.7 out of 5.

I have been so pleased with the order, delivery and packaging and the best thing of all is my dogs love it. The small kibble is small and great for puppies.

We're now fed our Barney on Akela for 2,5 years and he loves it.
To begin with he would only eat in the evening but we have now got him to eat after his morning walk and after his evening walk and each time he'll look at us as to say; "is that all I'm getting."
He has a beautiful shiny coat and no more dandruff (which he had when we first got him, one year old rescue dog). He has endless amount of energy but also enjoys a zzzzzzzz on the sofa in the sunshine.
Thank you Akela for a fantastic product and you deliver abroad.

“Affordable, high quality and my pup is thriving”
Reviewed 7th December 2016
When i got my pup, after much careful research i weaned him onto raw. However this was problematic and highlighted the large number of allergies that he had, concerned that he may be missing out on vital nutrients as such a important age, i looked for alternatives. I came across Akela's stand at the national pet show in Manchester and discussed the situation with them. I was impressed with the high amount of quality meat and purchased a taster bag which my pup loved. Straight away there was a marked different in his stools. I then ordered a bulk buy online, choosing the Suffolk Duck as it avoided all of Alfred's allergies. I could not believe the price! When i see other big bands charging tripple for a load of filler i am astounded. I recommend Akela to everyone. Three months later we are half way through our big bag and Alfred jumps up and down with excitement come meal time. Best quality dog food on the market.
